1) Junior Technical Officer (JTO) – Spectrum and equipment regulation

We are looking for a Junior Technical Officer for a 12 months temporary contract.

The JTO will have a fixed twelve-month mission within the Spectrum and Equipment Regulation (SPR) Department, part of the Operations Division of the ETSI Secretariat.

The position would be suitable for a recently-qualified engineer and includes the following key responsibilities, operating under the supervision of the SPR Director:

  • Act as prime ETSI Secretariat contact for the ETSI Technical Committees (or other ETSI Technical Bodies (TBs)) to which (s)he is assigned.
  • Verify the operation of the TBs under the ETSI Directives, advise them on procedural and drafting matters and promote best practice. Check that ETSI deliverables are fit for purpose, in line with ETSI requirements for technical and editorial quality and meet the necessary regulatory requirements.
  • Provide reports of TB activities, and ensure that their Decisions and Actions are recorded and followed up.

You have the following profile:

  • University degree or equivalent in Electronic or Telecommunication Engineering, with a strong knowledge of radio technology
  • An appreciation of legal, standardization or regulatory issues would be beneficial, but full training will be given to a successful candidate with the necessary technical skills
  • Self-motivated, enquiring and positive attitude, with willingness to learn and become autonomous rapidly
  • Excellent written and oral communication in English
  • Ability to travel internationally, if required

2) Call for expertise in EU-funded project

We are looking for candidatures for the secondment of a Project Coordinator to join the team implementing the ICT standardization part of the EC-funded action on International Digital Cooperation.

The project will be managed by ETSI in coordination with the Foreign Policy Instrument (FPI) unit of the European Commission's European External Action Service (EEAS). The core task of the FPI is to run a number of EU foreign policy actions and in particular the Partnership Instrument, which is an enabler for the European Union's cooperation with partners around the world to advance the EU's strategic interests.

Call for expertise in Specialists Task Forces (STFs)

Throughout the year, ETSI issues calls for expertise for Specialist Task Forces (STFs) which support the standardization work of the Technical Organization. Candidatures must be proposed by an ETSI Member Organization, but valuable candidatures from companies which are not ETSI Members may also be considered if the candidature is proposed by the Official Contact of an ETSI Member.
